Our Coaches

Zombabe
Head Coach
I was voted in as head coach in April 2023. I have always had a passion for teaching people and found myself coming to freshmen practices to continue working on the basics myself and help out. I became a freshman coach with another league in 2018 and started helping out with FRD in 2022 post-COVID. I started skating the summer before my senior year of high school and I am nearly going on 10 years of playing derby! The sport has brought so much joy and lifelong friendships into my life. It's an honor to have the opportunity to coach everyone into the skater they want to be.
Wild West
New Skater Coach
I coach for our new skater program and love being able to mentor the incoming generation of skaters. It makes me so happy to be able to help build a strong community in Frederick that folks can find their joy in. I got into derby because I love a challenge!
Hell B. Elby
New Skater Coach
I joined the coaching committee because it feels awesome to cheer and support those who try new things and work to achieve a goal! I’m happier on wheels and hope to share that joy at practice. I got into derby simply because I thought I couldn’t and wanted to be brave while working out some shit!
Shred Bundy
New Skater/Veterans Coach
I love seeing the progress each skater makes and witnessing their journey from freshman to veteran. I love focusing on strong defense and blocking skills because being a capable blocker is integral to any other position in derby. I fell in love with derby because I’ve always been competitive and wanted to play contact sports, but as a femme there was never much space for me to do so. Having this outlet and an incredible group of supportive people to do it with is incredible for my mind and body!
Joule Thief
New Skater/Veterans Coach
The position of “coach” holds great significance - it requires game IQ, flexibility and accountability, and a lot of trust from your team members. I joined the coaching committee to help people grow within the sport as strong individuals and to pay forward the love and joy that sports have given me.
Byers Remorse
Veterans Coach
I have been skating with the intent to play roller derby since 2010. I joined FRD’s coaching committee to spread my love of footwork and basic skills—I believe that every derby skater can improve their gameplay by mastering these fundamentals. I love coaching and helping skaters achieve “aha” moments where a skill they’ve been working on finally clicks. I had never heard of roller derby before playing, but, when a coworker asked me to attend an open house, I attended the open house with my coworker and the rest is history—I went home and bought skates that same night.
Mina Kat Scratch
Veterans Coach
I joined the coaching committee when voted as one of the team captains in 2023. I enjoy coaching as I like sharing drills I remember from previous leagues and coaches. We also all bring something different to the table and I love being part of such a good group of humans. I also dabble with the USARS ruleset. I find it helpful to know other rulesets and other strategies of gameplay.
Doc Diskillery
Veterans Coach
I am the bench coach for FRD. I started coaching after sustaining an injury and found a passion for motivating and pushing my skaters to new heights. I'm excited to work with each of them and help them achieve their goals on and off the track.
Devasation
New Skater/Veterans Coach
I got into skating in October 2021 after seeing a donut shop share FRDs first open house. I thought to myself "I can do that" - and I was most certainly humbled my Freshman Program. However, I fell IN LOVE with the sport and have never looked back. I started coaching because I enjoy sharing the passion I have for derby, and want others to be successful in their skating journey. I also really love to teach the rules.
Wrecka Rinker
New Skater Coach
As a Freshies coach, I am passionate about introducing new skaters to the world of derby. There's nothing quite like the rush of adrenaline and sense of community that comes with this sport. I love sharing that with others and getting them hooked too!
